Discover DuPage County!

When visiting Illinois, many people think of traveling only to Chicago. How wrong are they?! There is so much more to do and see outside of the windy city. DuPage County, located just west of Chicago, has tons of activities this summer! If you visit in the next few months, you will be welcomed by Andy Warhol exhibits and lots more. Below are some ideas on how to spend your weekend getaway in this beautiful area.

Day 1

Make sure to stay at Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago Lombard Oak Brook. The staff is super welcoming, rooms are very cozy, and there even is a happy hour (everyday!). I must say, we rarely see hotels anymore where the rooms are facing into the lobby, which makes for an awesome view for everyone.

Dinner time with Cooper’s Hawk is a must! You can try all of their fine wines which pair perfectly with their yummy meals. The menu is quite extensive, so even the pickiest eater will have options to choose from. Make sure to try their delicious wine or bubbles flight; you will not be disappointed.

Day 2

Today, explore all the Andy Warhol activities! Starting the day by visiting Cleve Carney Museum of Art, you get to immerse yourself within Andy’s colorful life and work. This exhibit runs Tuesday-Sunday 10am-6pm every day except for Mondays till September 10th, 2023. The exhibit offers 10,000 square feet of Warhol work and photographs that will peak anybody’s interest.

Later, visit Downtown Glen Ellyn and check out the photo ops around the city that go along the Warhol theme. Make sure to stop by at one of the antique shops and try gelato at Chocolaterie Stam. Their interior provides a perfect photo background, especially with the coolest Andy Warhol mural in the background.

For a dinner option, stop by Reserve 22, which is an American bistro with endless options located at a golf course. They even have a special Warhol menu, where you can try Andy’s whitefish piccata. Yum!

Day 3

After grabbing breakfast at the hotel and checking out, swing by Downtown Lisle and check out more Warhol murals. Also, if you like churros, then you MUST stop at Lola’s Handcrafted Churros. Yes, they serve ice cream and churros in one cup! You can also grab a variety box and try all of the different churro flavors. This place also makes for the cutest photo background, so make sure to stop by and share your experience on Instagram.

Lunch time is the best time, especially when breakfast food is served all day! If you come to Schmaltz Delicatessen, you will not be disappointed with their menu options. Make sure to grab their Sloppy Paul which is their #1 Seller, and for the right reasons.
